In 2019, five childhood friends from New Jersey came together to form Kid Smoko. Through releasing breakthrough left-pop singles such as "Tommy Boy" and "Come With Me" they generated a buzz that landed them on Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday, Anti Pop, Fresh Finds, Today's Indie Rock, Tear Drop and Omw, garnering tens of millions of streams across platforms

In 2024 the band took a step back from shows and releasing to work on their debut album "Trash Day", now slotted for a August 2025 release date. Through the process of development of the album and their new sound, as well as losing an original member of the band, they realized it would be best to release it under a new name: "projectile". Despite some success with Kid Smoko, the band felt it never had a true vision or identity prior, and that it was right to start fresh with the finally realized vision of what they wanted to be. "Trash Day" is just the start, made with the intention to be something raw and unique sounding, the band is excited to continue to develop and polish the sound as they start work on the follow up album. 

"projectile" sees our generation as lost in the battle for our own attention, dealing with addiction to modern vices, doom scrolling and daily dissatisfaction and unfulfillment. We want to offer a release from this through the only method possible; rapture

through art and community.
