Laguna Largo originally surfaced in 2016 as a collaborative duo project between vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Doug Tuck and percussionist, composer, and co-producer Hank Armstrong. Unified by a shared love for sonic exploration, they recorded and released two independent EP's between 2016-2019, culminating in the release of their debut LP "Coalescence" in 2020 which was written, recorded, and produced between several home studios in Bellingham, Washington.
In 2021, the project expanded to a four-piece band for live performances, with the addition of long-time friends and likeminded creatives Christian McGovern on synthesizers/keyboards and Grayson Padgham-Walker on bass/vocals. Not long after, the band welcomed guitarist and trusted collaborator Conor Oprins, and slowly began to take on a new identity, with an emphasis on a fully-collaborative creative process rooted in spontaneity, improvisation and experimentation. For the past three years, they have continued honing an ever-evolving live show while developing and recording their next full-length release.
At its core, Laguna Largo has always existed in a perpetual state of change and remains unbound to any specific genre or style, allowing the sound to blossom outwards in various psychedelic directions while staying grounded in the unique palette brought forth by the distinctive influences of each individual member. Through this eclectic and fluid approach, Laguna Largo seeks to create music that evokes a sense of shared catharsis; conjuring colorful, dreamlike arrangements that transport the listener to strangely familiar yet otherworldly destinations.
